High-end HD receiver with dual tuner

 

The ULTIMO is an open-source Linux satellite receiver (Enigma2) with three tuner slots (e.g., DVB-S2, DVB-C, DVB-T). It features a 400 MHz Broadcom MIPS processor, 1 GB of flash memory, and 512 MB of RAM. The rear panel includes an HDMI output, USB ports, eSATA, smartcard slots, and CI slots. An internal 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drive can be used for recording.

 

Software and functionality

The ULTIMO's software base is completely open (Enigma2) and supports plugins, custom skins, and extensive satellite functions. Depending on the tuner configuration, the device allows simultaneous reception and recording of multiple programs. Its major advantage lies in its flexibility: network connectivity via Ethernet, streaming capabilities, and community support open up a wide range of applications.

 

Use and instructions for owners

When using the ULTIMO, a wired Ethernet connection is recommended instead of Wi-Fi to ensure stable network recording and streaming. The selection of tuner modules requires careful planning: the slots allow for various combinations, such as DVB-S2 or DVB-C/T variants. Due to the open system, at least a basic understanding of FTP, Telnet, or SSH is advisable – the community firmware offers numerous extensions. One note: As this model is older, it's recommended to keep an eye on the availability of spare parts and future software updates.
